"I'm perfectly happy to be alive now." - Willem de Kooning in an interview with David Sylvester

  1. I know this doesn't have much context, but what I read into this was that he was happy to be alive "in the now." This isn't a man saying he is just happy to be alive, but he is happy to be alive without thought on what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. I posted this because I felt that myself along with everyone needs to be reminded that we should be happy with the now and not concern ourselves with what is in the past or the future. Willem de Kooning reminds us that it is okay to live in the present and let go of the stresses.
